This year I received a promotion at my place
of work. The new duties included that I be able to service
Linux based servers in more than fifty locations, some on-site
and some by remote. Until this point I was a firmly entrenched
as a Windows/OSX user, but now I faced the prospect of using
a whole new platform at a corporate level.
Not being one to fear the unknown, I went
home on my first night, pulled a couple of unused P4's out
from under the office desk and downloaded a copy of Fedora.
The rest, as they say, is history.
It has occurred to me that for all my digging,
for all my research, and for all my skating about the outer
regions of The Dark Side, it would have been nice if somebody
ha taken the time to create a nice soft-landing how-to with
the goal of easing a PC power-user in to the world of Linux.
Being an iPod junkie, the answer became obvious….
